Common memory of Macao people

Since 1587, a bright yellow European-style building has stood at the entrance of the bustling St. Paul’s Old Town, which is the common memory of every Macao person. Mr. Lou, a builder of Lou Chong Neng, who has more than 40 years of experience in restoration of cultural relics, has always been concerned about and participated in the restoration of cultural relics in Macao. He said that although traditional cultural relics restoration techniques have been done very well, most of the cultural relics have no reliable data to trace their original form. The new technology records the true form of the existing cultural relics and protects the common memory of Macao people.

A comprehensive record of Macau's memory

The cultural relics are exquisite and meticulous. Some of the inconspicuous lines and different colors of the church may carry a piece of history and need to be carefully preserved. To this end, we have formulated a comprehensive recording plan, using 3D scanning, VR360 and aerial photography technology to complement each other, in order to obtain the most comprehensive and detailed cultural relic records. We first used 3D scanning technology, supplemented by digital 3D modeling technology, to record the precise spatial structure and color of key cultural relics.

We also used VR360 technology to quickly and accurately scan the 1,300-square-meter (14,000-square-foot) physical space of the church, which solved the difficulties of building cultural relics, such as a large amount of data, a strong sense of space, and many details.

Today, when the concept of protection of cultural relics is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, we finally used aerial photography technology to supplement the overall record. Through aerial photography technology, the surrounding environment of Rose Hall was completely recorded. In addition to this, it can provide information for the future restoration of church roofs and façades.

The purpose of culture is to share and inherit

We are excited about all projects that contribute to the development of culture and the arts, and the completion of each artifact record means that it can travel farther and last longer. Golding Technology’s comprehensive cultural relic recording solution ensures the digital recording of the overall and full details of the cultural relics. In the future, cultural relics restoration workers will have a reference model that can be observed in three-dimensional and detailed, making the restoration of cultural relics more convenient. Of course, future travelers can also visit St. Dominic’s Church with the help of these data clouds. In addition, scholars from all over the world can observe and conduct more in-depth research on Macao culture from the cloud through these records, so that Macao culture can be further explored.

VR of Department of Exhibitions and Museums |Creates a New Experience of Macau Tourism in the Future
The Macao Cultural Affairs Bureau hopes that users can browse the webpages of the various museums of the Cultural Affairs Bureau to provide the first-hand interactive experience so that tourists can “travel” in person by simply surfing the Internet anytime, anywhere.
Macau Museum VR | Documentary Project 【Three Cities】
The Macao Museum has added an online VR virtual tour to the exhibition "The Story of Three Cities - Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area and Silk Exports in the Ming and Qing Dynasties" (hereinafter referred to as "The Story of Three Cities"). Online exhibits can be displayed in different museums, enriching citizens' understanding of history and culture in different regions. Through VR technology, even if the exhibits have left Macau, citizens can still see the cultural relics on display at that time online. We also assist the bureau to deploy virtual reality locally. All images, components, databases, etc. used in the virtual tour are stored in the bureau's server to ensure data security.
FAOM|Patriotic Labour Movement Exhibition|The first online virtual exhibition
Since the offline patriotic labor movement photo exhibition held by FAOM in 2019 has achieved great social backlash, FAOM has decided to hold the Patriotic Labor Movement Exhibition again in 2020. However, in 2020, the covid-19 is raging around the world. For the sake of public health, FAOM decided to hold an "online virtual photo exhibition" in an unprecedented way, which has also achieved remarkable results.
